“I am a first-generation Nigerian-American, the son of a refugee father and an immigrant mother. My parents instilled in me the values that guide my life to this day: integrity, respect, and inclusion. Let’s work together to make Houston a city that works for everyone.” -Obes Nwabara

Meet Obes
Obes Nwabara is a young Houston professional driven by a passion and a commitment to serve his community and improve the lives of others. To that end, he’s been incredibly engaged in community outreach and service. He has volunteered his time by reading to elementary school students, neighborhood clean-up events, and given career talks to middle and high school students. In addition to these efforts, Obes helped create a pilot program while at Baylor Scott and White Health that allowed patients to use rideshare services to get to doctor’s appointments and hospital visits free of charge. Obes was also appointed to the Art Colony Association board of directors where he helps oversee the annual Bayou City Arts Festival. Obes is looking to put that energy for public service to good use as your next city council member in At-Large Seat 2.
